Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the previous five grands prix.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the top spot in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the points lead from Piastri by one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before sprint qualifying due at the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the championship fight, lying with a 36-point deficit Norris, finished in 17th place as his Red Bull team followed a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he lost control at Turn Four early in the session.
The Japanese slid over the track edges before sliding over the gravel trap, and was fortunate to avoid just a slight brush of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the session, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn before the last turn on to the main straight.
The seven-time champion wrapped up in P19, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's car third fastest, 0.619secs slower than the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
